About The College

Macclesfield Tutorial College – a leading tutorial college in the heart of the UK

Established in 1991, the college began as a tuition agency and later developed to accommodate students who wanted complete courses. Full and part time students were first accepted in 1993. The number of students has risen due to increasing demand for tuition. As a result the college expanded its business and moved to a larger establishment on Cumberland Street in 1994.

The majority of students have lessons at MTC to prepare for GCSE and A Level examination and to attain the necessary qualifications to move into higher education.

The college has fully equipped laboratories which provide the facilities required for current GCSE and A Level science specifications and the increasing focus on practical skills in science. The college is also able to cater for other examinations in most subjects and we pride ourselves in being able to accommodate students’ needs.

The first aim of Macclesfield Tutorial College is academic –
to teach to a high standard and enable each student to strive towards his or her potential.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

At The College, students study in a particularly safe environment and are part of a small, friendly and professional working team. All our tutors and staff are DBS checked. We encourage interaction, discussions and the exchange of ideas whilst providing a studious and supportive environment within which all persons – students and staff – are treated with respect.

Many of our students are not taught within the traditional, mainstream education system and may not attend school for a variety of reasons, ranging from personal choice to home-school, to those who have felt that school was not the best environment for them. Many individuals have physical, psychological or psychiatric conditions which require additional care beyond that which is typically available in schools.

We have broad experience of providing support for children and young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and are able to provide a service which is flexible and supportive, whilst remaining both professional and discrete. We believe this affords each of our students or candidates the greatest chance of success and achieves the best possible outcomes. When an individual has a condition which makes it uncomfortable or impossible to participate in a traditional school setting, we offer an alternative and experience shows that a tailor-made, one-to-one approach can overcome many issues and anxieties.
